How are any of the 6 Democratic Ideals  (To Form A More Perfect Union, To Establish Justice, To Insure Domestic Tranquility, To Provide for the Common Defense, To Promote the General Welfare, To Secure the Blessings of Liberty) or 7 Constitutional Principles (Popular Soveriegnty, Limited Government, Separation of Powers, Checks & Balances, Federalism, Republicanism, Individual Rights) in your novel so far?  Convince me that you understand the ideal/principle & how it relates to your novel, specifically.

  1. The ideals and principles relate to my story the outsiders because it shows every one in a different way. For instance, to form a more perfect union. An example would be that the Socs beat up the greasers because they think that by beating them up they are making the community better. The Socs dont want the greasers there. So they try to get rid of them. That is an example of a more perfect unoin.

  2. indivdual rights relates to the outsiders because it talks about the socs and the greasers having their own territory where they can roam on although the socs never fallow theses rules and that the greasers have the right to wear their hair long and carry blades and how socs have the right 2 own fancy cars and carry blades and live in nice houses when greasers have 2 live in junky old houses but i really find this book interesting it catches and interest in me

  3. in the outsiders i think that one of the constitutional principals to best describe this book would be the seperation of the powers.i think that it would be a good constitutional principle becuase there are two powers or ganges the socs and the greasers.thre are like really strong rivalls if you are a greaser and you walk on a socs teritory you are just aking to get your butt kicked.

  4. in the outsiders i think that to provide domestic tranquility is that one of the constitintial princapals to best describe the book would be seperations of the powers.i would think that i would be a goood constitunial principle
because there are two powers or gangstas socs and greasrs.there are like real,ly strong rivals if you are a greaser and a soc,if your in the socs territory, then it is a rivalry

  5. In my book it shows that there is no promoting general welfare because there is much fighting and basically racism between two groups which would be the Socs and the Greasers.

  7. This book shows an exaple of “to establish justice” because when the Socs are beating up Pony Boy the rest of the Greasers come to save him. The Greasers chase off the Socs and throw rocks at their car as the quickly drive away. This is an example of establishing justice because the Greasers gave the Socs what they deserved for jumping their buddy.

  8. I think the whole ideals and principles things are right.
for example, while the socs are living in thier nice houses and riding in fancy cars. the greasers are living in horrible houses and most have no cars!
And still the socs are beating up the greasers nearly half to death.
just because they think the world would be a better place without them.
on my opinon, I think thats just wrong and crule.
This example has to do with people excersizing individual rights.

  9. to provide for the common defense would relate to the outsiders because when ponyboy is being beat up by the socs, the rest of the game comes to help him, and then they case them off by tossisng rocks at them. also when ponyboy is being drowned by the socs, Jhony stabs one of the socs in the stomch killing him and scaring off the rest.

  10. The principle I think pops up in the novel is individual rights. This is because the greasers are trying to mind there own business and live the way that they want but the socs are trying to take that away by beating the greasers whenever they want. So I think it pops up as the thing they are trying to achieve but the socs are stopping them. This is how the principle of individual rights appears in the novel.

  11. The Ideals relate to my story the Outsiders because it shows several ideals. For example to ensure Domestic traqility. Both the soces and the greasers hate each other beacause there from different sides, so each one has there own side so there isn’t fighting over who’s terratory is who’s.

  12. This book shows common defense because when ponnyboy is getting beat up his fellow gang members come and rescue him from catastrofic danger. Also when johhny is found half dead the greasers come to his rescue. JEFFREY HAHN.

  13. to provide for the common defense would relate to the outsiders when ponyboy is being jumped by the socs, his gang comes to help him, and then they chase them off by chucking rocks at them

  14. this book shows the 6 democratic ideals very well actually.
to form a more perfect union–when the socs. beat up the greasers because there not “good enough” for them. in more detail the socs. thought they were getting rid of the “bad people”
to establish justice–when the socs. jumped the greasers, the greasers thought it gave them the right to fight back it was justice to fight back.
to insure domestic tranqulity–soda sticks up for pony when darry is calling him out so thing dont go too far and that everything is fine at home.
to provide common defense–some greasers carry blades so they have some chance when the socs. attck them.
to promote general welfare–soda and pony ran away and changed there looks so the gang wouldnt get wrapped up in the murder.
to secure the blessings of liberty–the gang always sticks together and stand up for eachother

  15. to provide for the common defence is used in the story. for example when one person of the greasers get beat up, then the other people that are part of the “gang” are there to help them or defend them. like when johnny got beat up by the socs one day the other people like soda where there to help him. then make sure he was ok. then another one that is kinda used in the story was to ” to form a more perfrct union”. in the story there are the socs and the greaser. then the socs hate the greasers. for the socs they beat them up and ignore them. so that it’s a better life for them and then they think that it would be better without the greasers. that away to form a perfect union for the socs.

  16. I think to provide for the common defence relates to the novel, the outsiders. In the story, the greasers are like brothers, family. they have eachothers back, and would help them out in most any situation. They would help them out in fights, give eachother places to stay, and even kill for another greaser. For example, when johnny kills a soc, because they were drowning ponyboy and would have killed him if he didnt. Each greaser is a defender of all the others, and joined together, they can get through almost any situation

  17. this book shows common defence when ponyboy got beat up by the socsand they were shoving stuff in his mouth his bro came and scared them all away and he helped ponyboy

      Ethan Croucher — December 3, 2008 @ 12:54 pm

  18. Yo, whats up? i think that the outsiders had alot of self defense because johnny had to stab a soc so he can stop ponyboy from drowning, also everytime socs come around all the greasers would come together to fight them off. there is also respect for each other because when darry slap the mess out of ponyboy, he said he was sorry because ponyboy has never been hit in his family before. but ponyboy still ran away with johnny. there is also
trustworthyness because most of the time when a soc comes the greasers are always together.

      Dante Solomon — December 3, 2008 @ 2:40 pm

  19. well first is that they all stick together to protect them selfs and to blow off steam bye fighting other people so that they dont fight eachother as much.plus they aso have rules like dont get caught and something else witch i dont emember really. but there seocity for them is the gangs like the soc’s and the greasers. they all look out for eachother so that they dont get hurt to insure the domestic tranquility. so does the answer your question? hopfully…

  20. Out of the Demacratioc Ideals I think Seperation of Powers best fits the novel “The Outsiders”.There are two sources of power, the Soc’s which have higher power and then there is the lower power being the greasers. So even though the Soc’s have most of the power and seem to always over rule the greaser;there is still some power that the greasers have.
